NOTES REGARDING COVID-19

Our Mission and Our Clients

The Millwood Group LLC mission always has included, and certainly will continue to include, support for ANY parents whose children encounter educational problems caused by unique circumstances.  Our services are NOT limited to parents of children with special needs.

What We Anticipate
How the unprecedented closing of schools for two and a half months last spring, along with an abrupt switch to various formats of remote instruction, will impact students as they begin a new school year, remains to be seen.  Given the proposition that schooling will likely not be back to normal at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year, we anticipate that many students, and their parents, will find themselves facing additional new and unique challenges as the 2020-21 school year gets underway.  We anticipate that there will be a significant need for problem solving to address the unique, individualized, COVID-19 caused issues students will likely encounter.

Requests for Services for COVID-19 Issues That We Have Received
Following are COVID-19 related issues that have been brought to us by parents:
  • The impact of the unprecedented closing of schools for two and a half months along with the abrupt switch to various formats of remote instruction
  • Unilaterally reduced IEP services to accommodate remote learning scenarios
  • Ineffective delivery of IEP services due to remote learning formats
  • Suspension of Section 504 supports, accommodations, and services during remote learning

Our Services and COVID-19 Issues
All services will continue to be individualized in order to address the various educational issues children are experiencing
Given what we anticipate when schools reconvene, we believe that our 50 plus years of experiences in instruction, educational problem solving, educational leadership, and educational consulting will greatly facilitate our efforts to assist parents address any new challenges their children will face once school is back in session.
