Al Early

Al Early is a life-long resident of the Cincinnati area. He graduated from McNicholas High School and then earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Xavier University in 1968. He continued his education at Xavier and received his Master of Education Degree in 1971, with a concentration in guidance and counseling. He later completed a planned sixth year graduate school program in which he earned licenses as a secondary principal and school superintendent.

Al began his teaching and coaching career at McNicholas High School in 1968. In 1972, he moved to Colerain High School where he continued to teach social studies and coach. In 1975, Al was named an Assistant Principal at Colerain High School. Four years later he was named Athletic Director and Assistant Principal of Northwest High School, which is also in the Northwest School District. He was promoted to a central office position, Administrative Assistant, a year later, and the following year, 1981, was again promoted, this time to Principal of Northwest High School. Al spent eleven years as Principal at Northwest. In 1992, he was asked to move back to Colerain High School and served as Principal at Colerain until 1995. In 1995, he was promoted to Director of Special Services for the Northwest School District and served in that capacity until 1998, when he “retired,” as he often says, “for a weekend.”

After "retiring" from Northwest Schools, Al continued to work as a school administrator. He spent the next three years, from 1998 to 2001, as an Assistant Principal at McAuley High School. In 2001, he was named Principal of Archbishop Alter High School in Kettering, Ohio. He returned to school administration in Hamilton County in 2005 when he was named Principal of Purcell Marian High School in April of that year. In January 2009, Al was appointed as the first President of Purcell Marian.  Al "retired" for a second time in May 2013, and established the Millwood Group LLC.

Married for 45 years, Al and his wife Tina have three grown children, Beth, Emily, and Nick, and five grandchildren, Will, Kate, Maggie, Julia, and Daniel.
